A Birthday Party and One Checked off the Summer to do List

A's party was a great success.  There really isn't much one needs to do to make six little girls happy once they are together.  They enjoyed eating lots of "snacks" translated as foods you never get to eat on a regular basis such as orange and grape soda, chips and more chips.  Did you know that little girls get absolutely giddy over cheese puffs???

Pizza for dinner and delicious cupcakes from a local bakery.  Next presents, mostly from Justice. Swimming, a movie, staying up late laughing and screeching.  Did you also know that little girls do a lot of screeching???

Overall they were quite cooperative about bedtime.  In years past I've had a harder time getting them to sleep, having to eventually sit in the next room and remind them repeatedly to get to sleep.  This year one of the girls had to leave quite early in the morning.  The girls were very respectful of this and agreed to get to sleep early.  I'm pretty sure they were asleep before 12:00. Believe me, 12:00 is a great time to fall asleep for a sleepover!

This is the last big birthday party for A.  We made the rule (just before J's 10th birthday party when we got the estimate for his Game Trailer) that after 10, they can have a friend over, go to a movie or something similar, but no more large parties.  It gotten out of hand in my opinion.  The expense alone is enough to say no more.  Decorations, food, gifts, etc.  It all adds up.   We've spend hundreds on one party alone.  Add that times three parties a year, times # of years......"gulp" I don't even want to think about it!  And we still have C's to go and he's only six!

The kids are fine with the last party at 10.  Thank goodness!

We've had some really awesome parties both at home and at venues.  Lots of great memories. Most importantly, very happy children and that's all you can ask for as a mom.

Oh and host a sleepoever is on our summer to do list. √

  2. we have the same rule. I'd rather spend more money on a nicer gift than on a party at this point. and yes, girls screech. WHY?????
