Cousins

The kids met the baby for the first time today.  Each took a turn holding her, but it wasn't enough!  They wanted more, asking over and over to hold her.  They thought she was the cutest thing and were amazed by how small she is and how soft her hair is.

It was sweet to see them with her and how excited they are about her.  I'm looking forward to the days when she gets excited to see my kids!

Our family is growing and I'm so very happy.

Today

We are still waiting patiently for the new little one to make her appearance.  Six days overdue!  I have a feeling it will be this week, but one really never knows when babies will be born, do we?  My sister is ready and now we wait for our new addition.  While we've been waiting I've knitted two blankets, picked up some clothes, cute little socks that look like shoes, and two books (which I packed up before taking a picture of them).  I got this one and a high contrast book like this one (could not find the one I purchased on amazon).

I am dying over the cuteness!

Yup!  That's an owl in the pocket!

Now we wait for the call.

I've Been Pinned

It took me a bit to realize it, but yes, someone pinned a project (picture) from my wee little blog! A few days ago I noticed a large number of visitors from all over the United States had visited my blog, but what I found odd was they all were looking at the same post.

Because this post is about one of C's birthday celebrations I was getting a bit creeped out.  Why is everyone looking at my baby?  Anyway, I took a look at my stats and spent quite some time going through who was looking, from where, etc. when I found links from porn sites, yup, lovely isn't it, and Pinterest and yet I still didn't get it.  All I could think about was the porn sites!

After spending some time contemplating if I should make my blog private, because really I only have a few loyal readers who are my closest friends and family and I know those of you who read wouldn't mind, I decided to go back and take another look at the stats, and this time I clicked on the Pinterest link and saw a woman had pinned my paper plate and yarn spiderweb project!

Once it took me to Pinterest and I saw my project and blog link, it hit me!  All these people are looking because they came across this pin!  I sent quite a few emails to Jamie (who is more knowledgable about how the blog works) sharing my thoughts with her that day, asking about privacy and how I can do this that and the other thing, should I worry, etc.  After I told her someone pinned a project of mine and I think that is where all the hits were coming from, she emailed me a Congratulations!  I laughed out loud because you know what?  It's kind of a big deal!  It's silly but I felt really good about it!  Someone found something I did interesting enough to pin it!

I've been Pinned!

My New Home - The School Library

Here is where I have been spending about three hours a week since school started and I L.O.V.E it.  Yes I do!  Today I checked in and out books for a third grade class. I also hung up a bulletin board with the kids writing and drawings based on a children's book about Icarus (I can't find a copy of it any where on-line.)

I'm having so much fun, and yes, I'm a super dork.

Family Fun Night

Last night we had Family Fun Night!  We watched a movie at home and had popcorn for dinner!  Yummy!  We also surprised the kids with "movie" candy and root beer floats!  It was super fun to eat foods we would never eat on a normal night at home.  However, not such a great dinner for me.  Yummy yes, but my tummy was not happy.  We watched Batman Begins which J has been waiting to see.  (Ever since he saw The Avengers movie he's been really into super heros, movies, video games, books, and LEGO's.)

I love nights like this, sans the tummy ache...

As of Now...

  • First a quick note to say by the end of last week I felt much better.  Keeping myself busy and volunteering at the kids school helped keep me from falling into a funk.  Next week I'll be volunteering in the library and I can't wait.  Books are one of my most favorite things in the world, so I'm really looking forward to helping the kids check out books and even shelf.  I'll also be helping with bulletin boards.  Score! (I know, my life is pathetic) Grocery shopping is a breeze without little ones at your feet.  I was able to keep my house pretty clean and even make the beds every day!  Oh, and went for a walk each day.  Double score!
  • C had a rough start but by Friday was doing so much better.  I received an email from his teacher Friday afternoon about how well he did, no tears at all (on Friday)!  One out of five ain't bad!  I'm praying now that he'll be OK on Tuesday after a 3 day weekend.
  • During my down time after cleaning, shopping, cooking, laundry, you get the picture, I've been watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix and I love it.  I am such a teenage girl!
  • I'm on my second knitted baby blanket for my sister.  She's due in 10 days!!  In just a few, we'll have another little girl in our family, my kids will have a cousin, and I'll be an Aunt for the first time.  The joy I feel is indescribable.
  • Speaking of knitting, in October I'll be knitting a blanket with a group of women at a book store in a near by town.  We'll be knitting on size 19 needles!  This will be my first class and using such a large needle.  The blanket is gorgeous and I can't wait to make it.
  • I read a ton of books in the past few weeks.  I tend to use books to escape stress, fear, pain, etc.  With school starting, and the way I was feeling, I read 10 books in the past three weeks.
  • I think I might make baked donuts today. Comfort food helps too you know!
  • I'm finally getting some produce from my garden.  3 Yellow Cayenne peppers, tons of cherry tomatoes, 3 large tomatoes (although there are tons of green ones) and finally I see ONE eggplant growing.  One million flowers on the plant and only one eggplant! Now I pray some gross insect doesn't eat it.  My basil, sage, and mint grew like mad.  I've barely been able to keep up with it.  I learned a lot this year and made quite a few mistakes; planted my tomato plants too close together, as well as my herbs.  Didn't plant enough of each kind thinking I'd get more than enough from one plant.  Nope!  Planted one green bell pepper plant and got nothing. Not one pepper growing.  Oh well.  Now I know better. I'll be better equipped for next year.  Looking forward to growing more and starting earlier.  And being more strategic with where I plant things!
  • Been enjoying this long weekend.  Spending time with family, eating picnic food probably for the last time with fall quickly approaching, reading, knitting, and planning to get back down to my craft space soon.  And by that I mean, once the kids clean up the play room because I can not get my craft on in a mess. I need order before I can create.  (I remember not being able to do home work or read a book in my bedroom when I was growing up, unless everything was in it's place.  OCD ya think??)
  • As of now, I feel good and I'm ready to take on this new 7 and 1/2 hours of being childless adventure.  Maybe I'll finally get some stuff down around here......
