Sunday Sweets & Bread Making

This Sunday we made:

Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf
from

I found the recipe while searching for "clean" recipes.  This is something I am becoming a bit interested in and if you know me, that means I may go a little crazy about it, but it also means I may not stick with it.  It's something I'm interested in now and am trying to learn as much about it as I can.  I'll try it out and see what happens!

Anywho, I came across this recipe and since I still have two cans of pumpkin in the pantry from this past Fall I thought I'd try it.

I liked it but it is a bit "nutmeggy" tasting to the kids.  They are not really fans and would much rather have the Girl Scout cookies we just got.

If you would like to give it a try here is the recipe.  You can also visit Carrotsncake to read more about the recipe.

Ingredients:
  • 1.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 can (7.5 ounces) pumpkin
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325*F. Grease loaf pan.
2. Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl; blend well.
3. Once mixed, pour batter into loaf pan.
4. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until top is firm and a toothpick comes out clean.
5. Allow loaf to cool for 15 minutes; dust with powdered sugar (if desired).

BREAD!

This week I made:

French Bread
after the first rise

the recipe says you can make two long loaves or two round loaves

I chose round because it's easier and I'm lazy!

cut into two to make two loaves
after the second rise

Oh my, what beauties don't you think?

Oh and tasty too.  I couldn't help but cut a slice.
