When A was in preschool she brought home a packet of reindeer food she had made at school.
This food is to help guide the sleigh to your home. You see, the sparkly sugar on the ground and driveway will help the reindeer know where to go and land Santa's Sleigh. And it's a special treat for them too!
That night three years ago, she went out with her brothers and sprinkled the reindeer food all over the driveway on Christmas Eve. It seemed so magical. The dark sky, stars shining, breathing in the cold night air, and looking at the twinkling sparkles of colored sugar on the ground as we made our way back indoors.
Last night we made Reindeer Food together at home!
And maybe a little magic too.
The recipe is all over the Internet but here is one site I found it with a tag to use if you want to make it as a party favor etc.
It's very simple and delicious for reindeer!
1/2 cup of uncooked oatmeal
1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals
